Three members of the Coatimundi Middle School community were recognized by the Rio Rico Rotary Club at its meeting on Wednesday, September 23, for their dedication, character, and contributions to the school community.
Mr. Jose Bernal was recognized as Rotary Teacher of the Month. With more than 40 years of teaching experience, Mr. Bernal continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to education and to his students. He is known for his passion for science and FFA and for creating meaningful connections between classroom learning, future careers, and real-world experiences.
Beyond academic instruction, Mr. Bernal serves as a mentor who encourages students to learn, lead, and dream about their futures. His classroom is built on strong relationships, high expectations, engagement, and mutual respect. His dedication to students and education reflects the commitment to learning and leadership that Coatimundi Middle School and Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35 strive to foster in every student.
Ms. Victoria Betancourt, Alternative Professional, was recognized as Rotary Staff of the Month. Ms. Betancourt is known for her positive attitude, kindness, teamwork, and willingness to support both students and staff. She consistently takes initiative and steps in to help wherever she is needed, often recognizing a need before anyone has to ask.
Her compassion and dedication contribute to a supportive school environment and demonstrate the importance of every staff member’s role in helping students and schools succeed. Ms. Betancourt represents the caring and collaborative spirit of the Coatimundi Middle School community and District 35.
Julietta Morgan Romero was recognized as Rotary Student of the Month. Julietta was nominated for consistently demonstrating the qualities of an outstanding Cavalier and positive role model for her peers. She is kind, respectful, responsible, and committed to doing her best.
Julietta approaches her education with a positive attitude, listens attentively, and perseveres when faced with challenges. Her dedication to her education and the way she treats others reflect the character and values that Coatimundi Middle School seeks to develop in its students.
Coatimundi Middle School is proud to have Mr. Bernal, Ms. Betancourt, and Julietta represent the school and Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35 through their everyday dedication, leadership, and service to others.
