RED RIBBON
is the oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program in the nation. Initiated by the National Family Partnership following the tragic death of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, individuals began wearing red ribbons to commemorate Kiki’s sacrifice. Today, millions honor Red Ribbon Week by donning red ribbons, engaging in community anti-drug initiatives, and committing to live drug-free lives.
Mrs. Amarillas sets the stage for the week with a Drug Awareness Presentation led by the DEA for all students. Students are encouraged to wear red to raise awareness. The week continues with a fun school spirit activity and concludes with a Fall Dance hosted by STUCO on Friday.
